Muhsin Khan
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful.
Pickthall In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful.
Muhsin Khan Woe to Al-Mutaffifin [those who give less in measure and weight (decrease the rights of others)],
Pickthall Woe unto the defrauders:
Muhsin Khan Those who, when they have to receive by measure from men, demand full measure,
Pickthall Those who when they take the measure from mankind demand it full,
Muhsin Khan And when they have to give by measure or weight to men, give less than due.
Pickthall But if they measure unto them or weight for them, they cause them loss.
Muhsin Khan Think they not that they will be resurrected (for reckoning),
Pickthall Do such (men) not consider that they will be raised again
Muhsin Khan On a Great Day,
Pickthall Unto an Awful Day,
Muhsin Khan The Day when (all) mankind will stand before the Lord of the 'Alamin (mankind, jinns and all that exists)?
Pickthall The day when (all) mankind stand before the Lord of the Worlds?
Muhsin Khan Nay! Truly, the Record (writing of the deeds) of the Fujjar (disbelievers, sinners, evil-doers and wicked) is (preserved) in Sijjin.
Pickthall Nay, but the record of the vile is in Sijjin -
Muhsin Khan And what will make you know what Sijjin is?
Pickthall Ah! what will convey unto thee what Sijjin is! -
Muhsin Khan A Register inscribed.
Pickthall A written record.
Muhsin Khan Woe, that Day, to those who deny [(Allah, His Angels, His Books, His Messengers, the Day of Resurrection, and Al-Qadar (Divine Preordainments)].
Pickthall Woe unto the repudiators on that day!
Muhsin Khan Those who deny the Day of Recompense.
Pickthall Those who deny the Day of Judgment
Muhsin Khan And none can deny it except every transgressor beyond bounds, (in disbelief, oppression and disobedience of Allah, the sinner!)
Pickthall Which none denieth save each criminal transgressor,
Muhsin Khan When Our Verses (of the Quran) are recited to him he says: "Tales of the ancients!"
Pickthall Who, when thou readest unto him Our revelations, saith: (Mere) fables of the men of old.
Muhsin Khan Nay! But on their hearts is the Ran (covering of sins and evil deeds) which they used to earn.
Pickthall Nay, but that which they have earned is rust upon their hearts.
Muhsin Khan Nay! Surely, they (evil-doers) will be veiled from seeing their Lord that Day.
Pickthall Nay, but surely on that day they will be covered from (the mercy of) their Lord.
Muhsin Khan Then, verily they will indeed enter and taste the burning flame of Hell.
Pickthall Then lo! they verily will burn in hell,
Muhsin Khan Then, it will be said to them: "This is what you used to deny!"
Pickthall And it will be said (unto them): This is that which ye used to deny.
Muhsin Khan Nay! Verily, the Record (writing of the deeds) of Al-Abrar (the pious who fear Allah and avoid evil), is (preserved) in 'Illiyyun.
Pickthall Nay, but the record of the righteous is in 'Illiyin -
Muhsin Khan And what will make you know what 'Illiyyun is?
Pickthall Ah, what will convey unto thee what 'Illiyin is! -
Muhsin Khan A Register inscribed.
Pickthall A written record,
Muhsin Khan To which bear witness those nearest (to Allah, i.e. the angels).
Pickthall Attested by those who are brought near (unto their Lord).
Muhsin Khan Verily, Al-Abrar (the pious who fear Allah and avoid evil) will be in delight (Paradise).
Pickthall Lo! the righteous verily are in delight,
Muhsin Khan On thrones, looking (at all things).
Pickthall On couches, gazing,
Muhsin Khan You will recognise in their faces the brightness of delight.
Pickthall Thou wilt know in their faces the radiance of delight.
Muhsin Khan They will be given to drink pure sealed wine.
Pickthall They are given to drink of a pure wine, sealed,
Muhsin Khan The last thereof (that wine) will be the smell of musk, and for this let (all) those strive who want to strive (i.e. hasten earnestly to the obedience of Allah).
Pickthall Whose seal is musk - for this let (all) those strive who strive for bliss -
Muhsin Khan It (that wine) will be mixed with Tasnim.
Pickthall And mixed with water of Tasnim,
Muhsin Khan A spring whereof drink those nearest to Allah.
Pickthall A spring whence those brought near (to Allah) drink.
Muhsin Khan Verily! (During the worldly life) those who committed crimes used to laugh at those who believed.
Pickthall Lo! the guilty used to laugh at those who believed,
Muhsin Khan And whenever they passed by them, used to wink one to another (in mockery);
Pickthall And wink one to another when they passed them;
Muhsin Khan And when they returned to their own people, they would return jesting;
Pickthall And when they returned to their own folk, they returned jesting;
Muhsin Khan And when they saw them, they said: "Verily! These have indeed gone astray!"
Pickthall And when they saw them they said: Lo! these have gone astray.
Muhsin Khan But they (disbelievers, sinners) had not been sent as watchers over them (the believers).
Pickthall Yet they were not sent as guardians over them.
Muhsin Khan But this Day (the Day of Resurrection) those who believe will laugh at the disbelievers
Pickthall This day it is those who believe who have the laugh of disbelievers,
Muhsin Khan On (high) thrones, looking (at all things).
Pickthall On high couches, gazing.
Muhsin Khan Are not the disbelievers paid (fully) for what they used to do?
Pickthall Are not the disbelievers paid for what they used to do?
