Example reciter

Muhsin Khan

In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful. Pickthall In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful

Muhsin Khan (The Prophet (Peace be upon him)) frowned and turned away,

Pickthall He frowned and turned away

Muhsin Khan Because there came to him the blind man (i.e. 'Abdullah bin Umm-Maktum, who came to the Prophet (Peace be upon him) while he was preaching to one or some of the Quraish chiefs).

Pickthall Because the blind man came unto him.

Muhsin Khan But what could tell you that per chance he might become pure (from sins)?

Pickthall What could inform thee but that he might grow (in grace)

Muhsin Khan Or that he might receive admonition, and that the admonition might profit him?

Pickthall Or take heed and so the reminder might avail him?

Muhsin Khan As for him who thinks himself self-sufficient,

Pickthall As for him who thinketh himself independent,

Muhsin Khan To him you attend;

Pickthall Unto him thou payest regard.

Muhsin Khan To him you attend;

Pickthall Unto him thou payest regard.

Muhsin Khan But as to him who came to you running.

Pickthall But as for him who cometh unto thee with earnest purpose

Muhsin Khan But as to him who came to you running.

Pickthall But as for him who cometh unto thee with earnest purpose

Muhsin Khan But as to him who came to you running.

Pickthall But as for him who cometh unto thee with earnest purpose

Muhsin Khan Nay, (do not do like this), indeed it (these Verses of this Quran) are an admonition,

Pickthall Nay, but verily it is an Admonishment,

Muhsin Khan So whoever wills, let him pay attention to it.

Pickthall So let whosoever will pay heed to it,

Muhsin Khan (It is) in Records held (greatly) in honour (Al-Lauh Al-Mahfuz).

Pickthall On honoured leaves

Muhsin Khan Exalted (in dignity), purified,

Pickthall Exalted, purified,

Muhsin Khan In the hands of scribes (angels).

Pickthall (Set down) by scribes

Muhsin Khan Honourable and obedient.

Pickthall Noble and righteous.

Muhsin Khan Be cursed (the disbelieving) man! How ungrateful he is!

Pickthall Man is (self-)destroyed: how ungrateful!

Muhsin Khan From what thing did He create him?

Pickthall From what thing doth He create him?

Muhsin Khan From Nutfah (male and female semen drops) He created him, and then set him in due proportion;

Pickthall From a drop of seed. He createth him and proportioneth him,

Muhsin Khan Then He makes the Path easy for him;

Pickthall Then maketh the way easy for him,

Muhsin Khan Then He causes him to die, and puts him in his grave;

Pickthall Then causeth him to die, and burieth him;

Muhsin Khan Then, when it is His Will, He will resurrect him (again).

Pickthall Then, when He will, He bringeth him again to life.

Muhsin Khan Nay, but (man) has not done what He commanded him.

Pickthall Nay, but (man) hath not done what He commanded him.

Muhsin Khan Then let man look at his food,

Pickthall Let man consider his food:

Muhsin Khan Then let man look at his food,

Pickthall Let man consider his food:

Muhsin Khan And We split the earth in clefts,

Pickthall Then split the earth in clefts

Muhsin Khan And We cause therein the grain to grow,

Pickthall And cause the grain to grow therein

Muhsin Khan And grapes and clover plants (i.e. green fodder for the cattle),

Pickthall And grapes and green fodder

Muhsin Khan And olives and date-palms,

Pickthall And olive-trees and palm-trees

Muhsin Khan And gardens, dense with many trees,

Pickthall And garden-closes of thick foliage

Muhsin Khan And fruits and Abba (herbage, etc.),

Pickthall And fruits and grasses:

Muhsin Khan (To be) a provision and benefit for you and your cattle.

Pickthall Provision for you and your cattle.

Muhsin Khan Then, when there comes As-Sakhkhah (the Day of Resurrection's second blowing of Trumpet),

Pickthall But when the Shout cometh

Muhsin Khan That Day shall a man flee from his brother,

Pickthall On the day when a man fleeth from his brother

Muhsin Khan And from his mother and his father,

Pickthall And his mother and his father

Muhsin Khan And from his wife and his children.

Pickthall And his wife and his children,

Muhsin Khan Everyman, that Day, will have enough to make him careless of others.

Pickthall Every man that day will have concern enough to make him heedless (of others).

Muhsin Khan Some faces that Day, will be bright (true believers of Islamic Monotheism).

Pickthall On that day faces will be bright as dawn,

Muhsin Khan Laughing, rejoicing at good news (of Paradise).

Pickthall Laughing, rejoicing at good news;

Muhsin Khan And other faces, that Day, will be dust-stained;

Pickthall And other faces, on that day, with dust upon them,

Muhsin Khan Darkness will cover them,

Pickthall Veiled in darkness,

Muhsin Khan Such will be the Kafarah (disbelievers in Allah, in His Oneness, and in His Messenger Muhammad (Peace be upon him), etc.), the Fajarah (wicked evil doers).

Pickthall Those are the disbelievers, the wicked.
